Facebook’s Messenger Kids App is Adding Voice Effects and More

First up, the app will soon feature the ability for kids to add voice effects to their messages before they are sent. Kids can select the voice microphone icon and the press and hold to record a message.

Then it’s time to select from different options including a robot, ghost, gorilla or mouse, or sound like you’re talking into a seashell.

To make it easier for kids to use the app’s gaming features, they can now start two-player games from within a chat thread. They just need to tapping the orange controller Play tab in the bottom right corner.

Finally, the app is adding a dark mode.

WIth the app, parents can manage their child’s contact list and monitor messages. They can also see whenever a contact is blocked. No phone number is required to start.

Parents can also set usage limits.

Messenger Kids is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models. It’s a free download on the App Store.

There are no ads or in-app purchases.
